RING TERMINOLOGY:

Halo: A setting that encircles a center gemstone in a collection of diamonds (or faceted color gemstones).

Head or Top: Attached to the ring shank, the head or top of the ring holds the centre stone in place.

Shank or Band: The part of the ring that encircles the finger. Strictly speaking, the shank of the ring does not include the head.

Mount: The complete ring without stones

Side Stone: A stone set alongside or encircling a center stone.

Solitaire: A single diamond set in a ring.

Setting: The manner in which the stones are secured in the mount
